Easter is just a few days away and we are beyond egg-cited (see what I did there?). The long weekend, a break from school or work, time with family and loved ones, so much to eat and drink. Just like most holidays, Easter is centered on family and food.

With all the temptation and yummy goodness that comes with Easter, you may want to throw caution to the wind, gorge, and just do nothing this holiday, and while that’s okay, here are a few ideas that would help you and your family have a happy, fun and healthy Easter.

Stay physically active.

It might be difficult to find time during such a holiday especially when all you want to do is rest. But staying active can be so much fun especially when you get the family involved. You can plan an activity for each day of the holiday that everyone can enjoy, eg hiking, swimming, dancing. It can be anything really, just make sure you create a plan of about 45 minutes each day and stick to it. It will help you manage stress, boost energy and mood and even reduce fatigue.

Remember, everything should be done in moderation.

Having a healthy and balanced Easter lunch

When there are sweets and chocolates almost everywhere, remember not to overindulge. Do not get carried away, always balance your meals with nutritious food and enough water to keep your body healthy and happy.

Take some time for yourself.

I’m a big fan of having some alone time. It’s important to remember that you can take out some me-time to rest and unwind in the middle of all the excitement and enjoyment.

Create some time for yourself; you can take a nap, read a book or just do anything you regard as self-care.

While being sociable and interacting with others around us is essential for general wellbeing, spreading oneself too thin results in greater stress and worry.

Be honest with yourself about what you can do over the holiday. It’s okay to decline invitations to events or to prepare meals. As a matter of fact, it’s quite unrealistic to think you will be able to be present for every event you are invited to without getting maxed out.
